My name is Ruth. I am an Accredited Play and Creative Arts Therapist (PG Dip Play Therapy), EMDR Therapist, Early Years Educator, Drawing and Talking Practitioner and Family Support Worker. I have worked as a child therapist with hundreds of children, all with a range of conditions.
Children are often unable to verbalise or understand their concerns through talking. Play and Creative Arts Therapy makes it possible to reach goals through art, music, drama, dance, small world toys, sand, stories and visualisation.
Depending on the child, the work can be child-led or therapist-led and integrates a range of evidence based, data-led strategies, using different models depending on the child’s needs. 8 out of 10 children who access play therapy with a qualified child therapist meet their objectives.
I have many years of play therapy experience working with children who present with a range of concerns. This includes generalized anxiety, trauma, additional needs such as ADHD, ASD, PDA and ODD, selective mutism, family break ups, grief and loss, bullying, school refusal, substance misuse, domestic abuse, depression and eating disorders.
As a child therapist I see children aged between 2-17.
Depending on the severity of the concern, a package of 45 minute play therapy sessions will be offered ranging from six weeks up to a year, with regular eight week reviews and catch ups when necessary. Included in the package are initial parent or caregiver consultations, introductory child meetings, regular parent and teacher catch ups, support and advice, review and end report.
We also offer Positive Parenting Support, a tailored package that is designed specifically for you and your child’s concerns.
If you have any enquires, please give us a call or email and we will get back to you.
